Chole Bhature
What is chole bhature?
Chole bhature is a food dish popular in the northern areas of the Indian subcontinent. It is a combination of chana masala and bhatura or puri, a deep-fried bread made from maida. Although it is known as a typical Punjabi dish, it is originally a culinary dish of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Ingredients
100 g soaked chickpeas
Onion paste
Tomato puree
4 green chillis
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
½ tbsp. cumin
1 tbsp red chilli powder
½ tbsp. turmeric
½ tbsp. pomegranate seed powder.
Indian gooseberry seeds
1 cardamom
two bay leaves
1 tablespoon gram masala
1 tablespoon baking powder
Salt
Oil
Water
1 cup refined flour
1 pound curd
½ tbsp. sugar
1 tablespoon coriander powder
Recipe
For bhature
- Take a bowl, pour in refined flour, curd, sugar, salt, a pinch of baking powder, and 2 tbsp oil. Now mix it well and add water as per your need.
- Now let it rest for 2 hours.
- Take a pan and pour some oil in it. Now take our dough, divide it into small units, and roll it into circles, then fry it.
For Chole
- Now take a pressure cooker and pour 2 cups of water, chickpeas, the rest of our baking soda, salt, Indian gooseberry seeds, bay leaves, cardamom, and turmeric into it and wait for 3-4 whistles in the pressure cooker.
- After that, take a pan, pour some oil, cumin seeds, ginger garlic paste, onion paste, tomato puree, and coriander powder. Now stir it with the help of a spoon.
- Now add our stuff that we made in the pressure cooker to the pan with the pomegranate seed powder and gram
masala in it. - Then put it on low heat for 5 minutes.
