Poha
What is Poha?
Poha, also known as pauwa, sira , chira, or avalakki, among many other names , is flattened rice originating from the Indian subcontinent. Rice is parboiled before flattening so that it can be consumed with very little to no cooking.
Ingredients
Poha (250 g)
50 grammes of peanuts
1 onion
1 tomato
Two green chillies
1 potato
Curry leaves
1 tbsp turmeric
1 tbsp sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon mustard seed
1 tablespoon funnel seed
1 tsp asafoetida
Salt to taste.
Coriander leaves
2 tbsp oil
Recipe
- Wash the poha in the drainer two or three times.
- Cut all the veggies.
- Take a pan.
- Roast our peanuts and take them in a bowl.
- Fill it with oil.
- Pour asafoetida, funnel seed, mustard seeds, curry leaves, turmeric, potatoes, green chilli, tomatoes, onions and stir it well.
- Now stir in the poha, sugar, peanut butter, and salt for a minute.
- Now add the lime juice and coriander leaves and stir it well again.
