MOMOS
What is momos?
Momo are bite-size dumplings made with a spoonful of stuffing wrapped in dough. Momos are usually steamed, though they are sometimes fried or steam-fried. Meat or vegetable fillings become succulent as they produce an intensely flavoured broth sealed inside the wrappers.
Ingredients
100 grammes refined flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt.
1 grated carrot
1 cup chopped cabbage
1 tablespoon oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1/4 tsp. minced garlic
Soy sauce, 1 tbsp.
Salt as per your taste.
1/2 teaspoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Recipe
- Using water, knead the refined flour, salt, and baking powder into a stiff dough.
- Heat the oil and add the onion and garlic. Saute the carrots and cabbage over high heat. On high heat, cook until the sauce is glossy.
- Take it off the heat and mix in the soy sauce, salt, vinegar, and black pepper.
- Roll the dough thin (translucent) and cut into 4-5 rounds.
- Take a round, wet edge and place some filling in the center.
- Bring the edges together to cover the filling. Twist to seal and fill the rest in the same way.
- steamed for about 10 minutes and served with soya sauce and chilli sauce.
